The White House supported a bill it proposed to help students with financial troubles. I could’ve predicted this one, but it’s good news all the same.
Students applying for government aid has gone up substantially. Apparently, the college-bound is finding that college is much more expensive than they expected and they just need some extra scratch.
A blog from U.S. News & World Report gives the top 7 reasons as to why universities are having trouble keeping their tuition prices down. We’re seeing a downturn in the economy (still) and certainly having issues paying for college and colleges are having trouble giving students better opportunities. The list is as follows:

A new program called ‘Go 4 College’ is allowing low-income students the opportunities to get to college. There are chances for these kids, and a lot of the time they just don’t know the path. The Pendulum at Elon University reports the story.
Many institutions, including University of Houston in Texas, are looking for government hand outs to increase the students’ learning experience. I think it’s a worthy cause for those who need it. Education, as I’ve said many times over, is probably one of the most important parts of any society.

The Obama administration is putting forward some major changes in the way students will be getting government checks to further their education. The New York Times reports,
‘The proposal would increase grants to the neediest students and allow those grants to rise slightly above the inflation rate, an effort to keep pace with tuition increases.’
